The main characteristic of the breed is colorful pattern, but general conformation is also important. This breed is classified as light, but the animals are more powerful and heavier muscled then some light breeds. They should be short-coupled, strong-boned and with refined head and neck.

The origin of this beautiful breed is traced back to two-colored animals introduced by the Spanish conquerors. Some of the animals escaped and created wild herds; only the best animals survived in the wild. Indians used these large, endurable and strong animals for riding. Lipizzaner horses look graceful in the pictures, but when you choose breeders, be very careful.
