Today, these animals can be seen in Mongolia and some parts of Ukraine. Some scientists say that these animals are the ancestors of all modern breeds, but others insist that it is a different species, because it has 66 chromosomes, while domestic breeds have 64 chromosomes.

Nowadays only the Przewalski breed (Equus przewalski poliakov) is not domesticated; other types were domesticated long time ago or are the feral descendants of domesticated breeds, like the American mustang, which originated from Spanish mounts. The Przewalski breed became almost extinct in the 1990’s, but then it was reintroduced. A wild horse photo or a foal photo my be obtained from breeders.
